Professors Mary Dunn and Patrice Anderson took a handfull of students to Creative South this Spring. Creative South is an annual design and creative industry conference in Columbus, Georgia, where professionals and students engage with talks, workshops, and networking around branding, storytelling, and contemporary creative practice.

They say industry front runners such as Chris Do of The Futur, Kate Smith, Will Paterson, Jess Cabato of Paramount, Fonz Morris, Ash Aarrestad, to name a few.

Key Take Aways:

  • Design is no longer static…it’s systems, motion, and interaction
  • Process matters as much as outcome
  • The best work is rooted in clear thinking, not trends

Experiences like this are critical. They close the gap between academic work and professional practice and give students a clearer sense of where they fit in the field.

See you next year Creative South!
