This is the privacy policy for the Art + Design department blog at jsuartblog.org. The university’s own policies govern jsu.edu and any JSU system you log into, such as Canvas or your student account.
The short version
- We collect almost nothing.
- The only thing we ever ask you for is a first name and an email address, and only if you choose to sign up for the newsletter.
- There are no advertising trackers and no analytics on this site.
- We do not sell, rent, or share anything with anyone.
What we collect
If you sign up for the newsletter
The signup form in the footer asks for a first name and an email address. Both are stored on this site so we can send you department news, and nothing else is required. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list immediately.
Ordinary web server records
Like every website, our web host keeps routine access logs. These record things like the address your visit came from, your browser type, and which pages loaded. We do not use these logs to identify individual visitors, and we do not combine them with anything else.
Cookies
This site does not set advertising or tracking cookies. WordPress sets a cookie only when a faculty member logs in to edit the site. Comments are turned off across the blog, so there are no comment cookies either.
What we do not do
We do not run Google Analytics or any other analytics service. There is no Facebook pixel or similar advertising tracker. We do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not sell, rent, or trade any information collected here.
Photographs and student work
This blog publishes student and faculty work, exhibition photographs, and pictures from department events as part of the normal activity of an art program. If you appear in a photograph here, or your work does, and you would like it taken down, email us and we will remove it. You do not need to give a reason.
Removing your information
To unsubscribe from the newsletter, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email. To ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, email art [at] jsu.edu or call 256-782-5626, and we will take care of it.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the date below changes with it. We do not keep an archive of previous versions, because the practices described here have been the same since the blog started.
