“Camellia Delta: A Typography Exhibition,” a solo exhibition by Sam Musgrove, was an incredible exhibition to welcome to the Roundhouse gallery on Friday. Sam would like to thank everyone who stopped by and Friday and encourage those who did not see the show last week to stop by this week and take a look!
Camellia Delta is a display front that was created to honor the legacy of Asian American business owners in post Civil War American South. Through his research, Sam discovered photographs of these business store fronts and was heavily inspired by them. Framing typography as not just a source of graphics, but as a culture oriented experience, Sam Musgrove highlights the often overlooked struggles of Asian Americans in a segregated south and how modern typography can tell us stories of the people of the past.
The exhibition will be up until Wednesday in the Roundhouse gallery this week so be sure to visit for more information on Sam’s research and a glimpse into the past.
